Books from Indian Mythology for Kids

Stories excite everyone. A well- said tale stirs up imagination and delights the mind. Indian mythology is filled up with tales of valor, courage, unbelievable grit and magic. Stories of Gods, Goddesses, serpents, kings, queens, demons, all find fancy and attract a young mind. Children have the unique ability to imagine vividly. Stories excite them and open up a whole new world where anything’s possible.

Here’s a list of exciting books on Indian Mythology that excite not just the young mind but catch the adult’s fancy too:

  1. 365 Panchatantra Stories, Om Books:

Written originally in sanskrit and pali languages, the Panchatantra was a collection of stories with animal characters being the central figures, that passed on valuable life lessons and morals. These fables taught life lessons to kings, statesmen and common folk through simple stories.

This delightful book is for readers in the age group of 8-12 years. Complete with illustrations and exciting visuals, there’s a story for each day of the year.

2. The Gita: For Children, Roopa Pai:

The Bhagvat Gita, one of the oldest books, is originally a conversation between two friends-Lord Krishna and the great archer, Arjun. It is part of the bigger text, the Mahabharatha. Every person reading the Gita, will learn valuable life lessons from the text.
